about the festival

What should I expect this year in the hybrid format?

ROXFILM 2023 will be a hybrid festival with in-person and online screenings and events. The IN-PERSON program will run from June 20 - June 28, 2022 and the ROXFILM@HOME (ONLINE) program will run from June 28 - July 2, 2022. There are separate festival passes for the in-person and the online programs - please purchase both if you want access to all screenings and events.

We will have Q&A sessions with filmmakers, Daily Script Reads, hangouts, panels, and additional events. There will also be some free and outdoor screenings. For full details, please read the rest of the FAQs and visit roxfilmfest.com/2023festival.

How do I know what is happening each day?

Visit the Films & Events page for all festival information, daily film guide, and links to additional events and information. You can search by type, format, venue, day, and keyword to filter and find the screenings and events that you are looking for.

How can I see a list of all the films showing at the Festival?

Visit the 2023 Film Guide to find a list of the films in alphabetical order. If viewing on a desktop/laptop computer, click on the film’s image for a pop-up of more information about each film. If viewing on a mobile device, click on the film’s image first then the gray dot in the bottom right corner for the film information pop-up.

What is the Daily Script Read Program? Are actors reading new scripts?

We have asked local screenwriters to submit works in progress and have brought in professional actors to read the scripts and give feedback.  The read is a great way to hear new work, support local writers and actors and learn about the script writing process. You as an audience member will have the opportunity to ask questions as well. It’s free to participate. The schedule, links, and bios of the filmmakers and a list of actors  to the daily readings can be found on the 2023 Festival page once available.

Are there any films with captions or subtitles?

Yes, we do have some films that have been submitted with captions or subtitles which you can find at the end of the Film Guide page here. This list will be continually added to as well.
