Dear Friends,
This is our time. We have opportunities, more so than before. We have a world that is listening, a world that is open to hearing our side of history, our side of the story, let's seize this opportunity. This is our time for us to tell our stories, truths about our lives, about who we are, to counter the narrative and to shine a light on our greatness and to tell the world...again...the contributions we have made to this country. We have all been experiencing over the past two weeks anger, frustration, sadness that is a culmination of years and years of dealing with issues around inequality in this country and the suppression of black voices over and over again. I want to thank all of our filmmakers over the last 21 years who have brought to us incredibly impactful stories that have educated, influenced and impacted so many of our viewers. Keep going, there is so much more to tell.
At RoxFilm, we are committed to sharing the stories we have and we will be staying in touch and bringing you some amazing films each month from our archives that we feel lift up those voices and celebrate who we are countering the narrative and building our collective power. As you are out there fighting the good and important fight, please be careful, wear your masks because we need you to keep telling these stories. It's our time to write and tell our history from out perspective, our ancestors, and our time to shout them from the rooftops because right now....people are listening.
