What’s Black About it? Burrell: Advertising Revolution showcases Tom Burrell's pioneering role in integrating black culture into mainstream advertising. He and his agency addressed this untapped market, initiating “black advertising” that reflected an authentic black lifestyle and culture, presenting them in an honest and positive way. From the '70s to the 2000s, he transformed the industry as the first to feature black people in national commercials for iconic brands, from Coca-Cola to McDonald’s. Through his agency, Burrell reshaped America's commercial landscape, challenging stereotypes and influencing cultural narratives.
